Planning board grants 180-day extension for 3,000 sq ft addition at 3 Rescue Lane

The Somersworth Planning Board approved a six-month extension of an already-approved site plan for the property at 3 Rescue Lane, allowing the applicant additional time to schedule preconstruction work and begin building a 3,000-square-foot addition with parking and drainage improvements.
Jeff Alleva (recorded as the applicant’s engineer) told the board the site-plan approval dates to May 2023 and that the applicant has met prior conditions but has not commenced active and substantial development within the 24-month window; the extension request was for 180 days so construction can begin in spring 2025. Alleva said there are no design changes to the plan: “No changes to the plan. Nothing like that. Just an extension to get us to the preconstruction,” he told the board.
Board member David Witham said the site is in a relatively isolated area at the end of the roadway and saw little risk in granting the extension. The motion to approve the extension was made by Robert Bellmore and seconded by David Witham; the board voted in favor by voice/hand vote.
No new conditions to the approved plan were announced at the meeting; the board recorded the extension and moved on to other agenda items.
