Board tables decision on last day of school after scheduling and packing concerns

Superintendent Dr. Bridal explained the district's plan would provide a 25/75 split of the last day: 25% building-level activities and 75% of the day for teachers to finish packing and prepare for moves tied to summer transitions. "It would allow an additional day for our staff to finish out the year, pack up and prepare for a lot of moves that are happening," Dr. Bridal said.
Board members pressed for more detail. Member Bellows asked what staff would do during the day; Member McGowan questioned whether one day would be enough for large moves and suggested the board consider adding another day. Member Stokes recommended tabling the motion so the superintendent and staff could return with options addressing School Street's celebration schedule and the packing concerns.
A motion to table the decision passed by voice vote; board members asked the superintendent to return with a refined proposal at the next full-board meeting so the board can set a final date in May if needed.
