Board of Adjustment conditionally approves Delpharton School student life center with lighting and fire-safety conditions

The Morris Township Board of Adjustment voted to memorialize its conditional approval of the Delpharton School’s application for preliminary and final site-plan approval, variance relief and D-3 conditional use variance relief to construct a new student life center at 230 Mendham Road in the OSGU zone.
Board counsel summarized the memorializing resolution, saying that approval was conditional on the board’s standard conditions plus site-specific requirements: all site lighting fixtures must be dark-sky compliant; planting plans must comply with the township’s do-not-plant list and the landscape plan must be revised accordingly; parking must be installed with hairpin striping; two standpipe connections must be installed on each level of the parking garage and a fire hydrant must be installed at the Level 1 parking entrance to ensure fire department water access; and the applicant must comply with all township agency reports, including the fire department and the environmental commission.
The memorializing resolution also included administrative corrections to signature dates that were addressed before filing. After no board members requested changes, the board voted to adopt the resolution and the motion was seconded; roll-call votes were recorded affirmatively by members present.
The approval grants the school the site-plan relief that was the subject of the hearing, subject to the conditions listed in the memorializing resolution and to any additional requirements in the township agency reports.
