Township announces senior-center transit suspension, Arbor Day contest deadline and other resident services

The township administration used the March 24 meeting to give residents several operational updates: the senior-center bus service is temporarily suspended as staff work to restore transportation; the senior center continues to offer AARP tax assistance by appointment; and the Arbor Day student art contest deadline is March 27 for K–8 participants.
Other announcements included: cat-license renewals due April 30 (fees: $7 for spayed cats, $10 for unspayed), Public Works brush pickup in Zone 4 (current), a spring cleanup day on Saturday, May 10, a Mercer County document-shredding event on April 12 (641 Broad Street, Trenton; limit eight bankers boxes), hazardous-waste and e-waste collection on June 14 (Dempster Fire Training, Lawrence Township), and a burglar-alarm registration deadline of March 31 with a $25 fee and possible late fines. The administration also noted that the proposed Shade Tree Commission line-item is in the draft budget and will be voted on later in the budget process.
Town clerk Allison Sheehan also announced that Memorial Day parade participation forms will be available April 1 (parade scheduled May 26) and that municipal election petitions for mayor and two council seats will be available beginning April 1.
