Carrie Giblin, special assistant to administration, updated the council on a township website redesign effort and urged council members and department heads to provide prioritized, actionable functional requests that the vendor can incorporate.
Giblin said the vendor has provided sample site templates used for other municipalities and recommended that council members review those examples and indicate the specific features they want (for example: online pavilion/pavilion rental booking, centralized event and permit information, a clear single location for health-and-safety notices). She and IT staff said a site map and functional requirements are being finalized and that the new site aims to modernize the user experience and reduce duplication of content across department pages.
Councilmembers asked for a process: collect concise, testable suggestions from councilors and department heads, distribute them to administration, and present a working draft at a future council meeting for discussion. Ideas proposed during the discussion included easy online reservation of park pavilions, clearer event-permit steps, centralized emergency notices and integration with email blasts and social partners. Council members and administration also discussed longer-term options such as a municipal app but agreed to prioritize the website build and set an early review cycle for drafts.
Giblin will circulate vendor examples of municipal websites, collect council submissions of prioritized and actionable features, and return with a working draft for feedback before final procurement.
