Frosh Shop Marketplace aims for April opening; committee hears vendor, tool-lending and permit updates

Saf (Zaf) DuBois reported that the Frosh Shop Marketplace (referred to in the meeting as the Fros/Frosh Shop Marketplace) aims to open April 1, pending county approvals and parking resolution.
DuBois said the conditional-use permit has been reviewed and no obvious objections have been raised but parking questions remain. She described vendor commitments including a prospective permanent food-truck operator from the Indian restaurant in Oakhurst, a regular local vendor (Trevor), and other food-truck applicants. "We have commitments from several food trucks and vendors," DuBois said.
The project plans included a 20-foot storage container for tool storage that the county library would tie to its tool-lending program so residents could check out equipment with a library card; SierraTel is expected to provide WiFi to support checkouts. DuBois said the container will be painted and could double as a public-art opportunity.
DuBois outlined site amenities and safety steps: bistro lights, misters, braced tent anchoring and a layout intended to blend with the hillscape. She also said county billed $3,700 to review sketches of the site, and that the marketplace is intended as an economic-development activation even if it is not a profit-making venture for the organizer.
No final county approval or contract was reported; DuBois said she is awaiting final permit sign-off and will continue vendor and infrastructure work before opening.
