The commission discussed adding an item about the Gold Rush design guidelines review and clarifying language about consultations with the Southern Sierra Miwok and the Mariposa Town Planning Area Task Force. Paulina Pivock, HSRPC staff, said a draft was included in the meeting packet and reminded commissioners that the report is due April 1. “Let me know if you have any thoughts, feelings. We can continue working on this, but it is due April 1,” Pivock said.
Commissioners debated whether to submit the report on time or postpone final approval. One commissioner moved to postpone, then withdrew that motion after discussion about timing and the practicalities of the county’s agenda process. A later motion to approve the HSRPC annual report 2024 "with the provisions we just discussed" was made and seconded; the chair called the vote and the motion passed. Commissioner River seconded the approval motion during the meeting.
Commissioners noted that if the board does not act on the submitted report immediately, the HSRPC may submit an updated version for the commission’s April 14 meeting. Pivock confirmed she would file the report by April 1 and can circulate a revision if the commission agrees at its next meeting. “We can turn it in and then revise it,” she said.
The commission also clarified that some items listed in the report — for example, cooperative work with the Southern Sierra Miwok and the Mariposa Town Planning Area Task Force — should be described as consultations on items under the Historic Sites Committee's jurisdiction. Commissioners agreed to add brief clarifying language and to finalize any remaining edits before submitting.
The commission recorded the approval and directed staff to submit the report to the board on the stated deadline and to present any subsequent edits at the next HSRPC meeting.
