Board approves three-year MOU with Friends of the Mariposa County Library

The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors approved a three-year memorandum of understanding with the Friends of the Library on April 1, formalizing roles and shared use of space to support library programs and services.
The MOU clarifies that the library will provide limited space for Friends activities and storage (community room and designated County storage), and describes how the groups will coordinate on volunteer assistance, fundraising, and program support such as summer reading, commodity distribution and other community events. Library Director Matt Johnson introduced the agreement and noted the Friends' long-standing role in book sales, program fundraising and general support. John Wuerl, president of the Friends of the Library, thanked the board and said the group intends to move beyond recent organizational difficulties.
Board action: Supervisor Minotry moved approval of the three-year MOU; Supervisor Toso seconded. The motion passed 4-0 (Supervisor Poe excused). The MOU takes effect immediately.
