Committee hears board report: plan to pursue independent nonprofit status, request municipal support for startup costs

Members of the Dahl Memorial Clinic Planning Committee received a board report outlining a proposed letter of intent to the municipal assembly that would present a four-phase work plan to transition the clinic toward independent nonprofit status and seek municipal support for initial start-up needs.

Clinic leadership told the committee the long-term goal is for Dahl Memorial Clinic Inc. to become the single entity and applicant for HRSA funding and to operate independently from municipal code. To get there, Director Wall said the clinic needs a memorandum of agreement with the municipality, legal counsel to guide the transition, directors-and-officers (D&O) liability insurance for the independent board, and financial-advisory support to establish accounting and audit processes outside the municipality.
