Deputy CAO Megan McCammon asked the board to renew a contract with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Foundation to continue a strategic grants initiative that helps the county identify and pursue state, federal and foundation grant opportunities.
McCammon told the board that the CSAC‑subcontracted team (including staff from The Ferguson Group) has helped the county prioritize fundable projects, align them to grant programs and reduce staff time spent scanning solicitations. She said Inyo County has several active applications but limited realized award results so far because the work started only about a year ago.
Board members asked whether the vendor included foundation and corporate grant searches in addition to state and federal programs; McCammon said the vendor scans foundation and private sources as well and maintains a spreadsheet of opportunities and priorities for county projects. The board also discussed fuel-reduction and CWPP (Community Wildfire Protection Plan) requirements; staff noted some grant programs require an updated CWPP and recommended keeping the county’s plan current.
Supervisors approved renewing the contract and thanked staff; the transcript records the motion carried by voice vote with no roll-call tally in the meeting minutes.
