Clinic outlines phased pharmacy launch and Portland House plans; seeks letter of intent from assembly

It will simply be 3 months' worth of preparing our process so that we get ordering of inventory down, billing, third party liability enrollment, and, the prescription process, well honed before we launch into another setting.” The clinic is negotiating wholesaler contracts with Cardinal or McKesson and has completed required registrations, including DEA numbers and NPIs, according to Wahl.
Wahl described three phases: stand up the pharmacy and prepare the senior center for renovation; renovate and open the senior center; and expand into assisted living. He said the first retail site in the Portland House will follow the in‑clinic launch once processes are stable.
The board set a special corporate meeting for 5 p.m. April 4 to review a draft letter of intent to the assembly about Portland House and to discuss funding and the municipal/nonprofit relationship. Wahl said the borough manager and borough attorney have been consulted and that a memorandum of agreement will be needed to clarify municipal employees’ status and other legal matters before full transition.
Ending: Wahl told the board he will circulate a draft of the letter of intent to the borough manager and the board ahead of the April 4 meeting. The board asked staff to prepare budgetary and scope information (including an estimate for the Portland House big room) so grant writing and nonprofit steps can proceed.
