Board appoints Christy Martindale as Inyo County treasurer‑tax collector after candidate interviews

She described experience with investment policy, cash‑flow planning and special‑district coordination and said safeguarding public funds, prudent investment and managing cash‑flow obligations were priorities. “We are responsible for safeguarding the assets of the county,” she said.
Her opponent, Allison Lisonbee Kron (who also used the name Allison in the hearing), outlined a 19‑year county career that includes eligibility work in Health and Human Services, fiscal work and, most recently, experience in the assessor’s office as assistant assessor. Kron emphasized cross‑department collaboration, work on the recent Augmentum (property tax system) implementation and a desire to improve interdepartmental communications among assessor, auditor/controller and the treasurer’s office.
Board members praised both candidates. Supervisor Griffiths highlighted Martindale’s preparation and educational credentials and moved to appoint Martindale; another supervisor seconded the motion. Alicia McMurtry, the county’s former treasurer tax collector, gave a public endorsement for Martindale during the hearing and said Martindale was “shovel‑ready” to step into the role.
After a voice vote the board carried the motion to appoint Martindale. Supervisors said they expect continued collaboration among the treasurer/tax collector, assessor and auditor/controller offices to maintain checks, balances and transparency for taxpayers.
The board’s motion concluded that Martindale will take on the duties of treasurer‑tax collector and the office will continue routine oversight, including publication of balances and Treasury Oversight Committee audits. The board did not attach additional conditions to the appointment during the meeting.
