Selectmen approve cemetery mowing contract after trustees’ recommendation

The Greenland Board of Selectmen on April 7 approved the Cemetery Trustees’ recommended contractor for the 2025 mowing and maintenance contract, following a trustees’ presentation and discussion of bid responses.
A trustee representative told the board the trustees solicited bids from three contractors. Two submitted responses; one did not respond and one submission was incomplete. The trustees indicated a preference for one contractor based on prior work at town sites and the completeness of the bid package.
Board members and trustees discussed that one firm, Scatula Landscaping, did not include the town’s requested comprehensive maintenance agreement in its submission, and another bidder (identified in the meeting as PNC yard maintenance) had not submitted the required insurance documentation, making its bid incomplete. The trustees said the incomplete bidder indicated they would provide insurance if awarded the contract but that the Board could reasonably treat that bid as incomplete for purposes of award.
A motion was made and seconded to award the cemetery mowing and maintenance contract as recommended by the Cemetery Trustees. The motion passed on a voice vote.
The board did not take further contract-joining steps at the meeting: the vote approved the trustee recommendation and authorized the Selectmen to proceed with contractor notification and administrative follow-up. The trustees had been present at the meeting to answer questions about the bids and their recommendation.
