Yakima County work session reviews consent agenda, schedules public hearing on outdoor festivals and agritourism code edits

During the April 10, 2025 work session, Julie Lawrence, representing the Yakima County Clerk of the Board, reviewed the consent agenda items the board will consider at the next regular meeting.
Lawrence listed several settlement resolutions and agreements: resolution approving amendment and settlement of claim number 512020 (Eric and Lisa Brain); resolution denying settlement of claim number 552024 (Jose Mesa); resolution approving settlement of claim number 72025 (Everett Glaser). She also reviewed county roads agreements including a traffic policing agreement with the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and a communication services agreement for county roads, an amendment to extend HLA Engineering and Land Surveying Inc.’s contract end date to Dec. 31, 2025, and an agreement with the Washington State Department of Commerce for the Yakima County Justice Center project. Additional items included human services vendor agreements to accept veteran food and fuel vouchers (Ray’s Market Fresh IGA Chalet and Brewer’s Mini Mart 2), a 2025 OPI settlement funds contract with Yakima Neighborhood Health Services for a neighborhood reentry program, a Community Development Block Grant amendment with the Washington State Department of Commerce, a resolution authorizing application to Washington Recreation and Conservation Commission for salmon recovery, and a GRAMA request with E3 Solutions Inc. to install card readers at the Yakima County Courthouse.
Lawrence also announced a public hearing will be held to take testimony on edits to Yakima County Code Title 8 (Outdoor Festivals) and Title 19 (agritourism). During the work session the public comment period was opened for online participants but no public commenters signed up; county leaders closed the public comment section at the work session and noted the public hearing will provide opportunity for testimony.
The items were presented for placement on the board’s upcoming regular agenda; no final action on the listed consent items was taken during the work session.
