Yakima County adopts consent agenda and approves coroner separation agreement; public hearing on agritourism extended

Yakima County commissioners on April 15 adopted the consent agenda, approved a separation/resignation agreement with the county coroner and extended a public hearing on proposed changes to the county's agritourism code.
Julie Lawrence, clerk of the board, read a multi-item consent agenda that included auditor and corporate counsel resolutions, multiple interdepartmental agreements, contract amendments and grant items (full list below). The board adopted the consent agenda by voice vote; all three commissioners present voted in favor.
The board then considered Agreement 121-2025, described in the meeting as a separation/resignation agreement with coroner Jim Curtis. The board moved, seconded and approved the agreement by voice vote. At the time of the vote staff said the coroner retains a seven-day rescission right and the board would not comment further until that seven-day rescission period expires.
The board also opened a public hearing to take testimony on edits to Yakima County Code Title 8 (outdoor festivals) and Title 19 (agritourism). The hearing was extended for additional public comment and follow-up work sessions; no final action on the agritourism draft was taken at Tuesday's meeting.

The board adjourned after adopting the items above. Several speakers at the agritourism hearing asked the county to revisit lodging, acreage minimums and parking language; commissioners directed staff to schedule a follow-up work session and to accept written comments submitted to the clerk prior to that meeting.
