Strongsville council suspends rules to adopt stormwater, street maintenance and equipment contracts; issues conditional objections to two liquor permits

Strongsville City Council on Feb. 18 approved multiple emergency ordinances and resolutions addressing stormwater design criteria, street maintenance contracts and police video equipment, and moved to conditionally object to two pending liquor‑permit applications for failure to meet city building, health or safety requirements.

The council voted to suspend the rules and adopt ordinances amending the city’s stormwater management prohibitions and design criteria (Ordinances 2025015 and 2025016) and to approve related procurement actions to advertise for concrete, paint striping and street‑sweeping contracts for 2025–26 (Resolutions 202517, 202518 and 202519). All roll‑call votes recorded at the meeting were unanimous among present members.

Council also approved Ordinance 202520, authorizing a contract with Utility Associates Inc. to replace obsolete body‑worn cameras and in‑car video equipment without public bidding; the ordinance includes a roughly $110,000 annual cost over five years as stated during committee reports.
