Nash County approves $52,095 change order for landfill C&D cell erosion control

The Nash County Board of Commissioners on March 24 approved Change Order No. 1 to the county's C&D cell expansion contract at the Nash County Landfill, increasing the contract by $52,095 to an amended total of $798,009.42 and with no change to contract time, Public Utilities and Facilities Director Mike Phillips told the board.
The change order addresses stormwater and erosion-control issues on the active C&D cell. "The most significant items are improvements to an existing drop inlet, grading along veil perimeter ditches, bridal replacement, and stabilization, and erosion control matting and seeding," Phillips said. "Approval of this change order results in an increase of $52,095 for an amended contract amount of $798,009.42, and no change in contract time."
Commissioner Sue Leggett moved to approve the change order; Commissioner Howell seconded the motion. The board approved the change order by voice vote. The agenda item paperwork asked that the county manager be authorized to execute the change order on the county's behalf.
The request was presented as an operational fix to address active erosion problems at the landfill cell; Phillips recommended approval and said the change order lists each item included. No changes to the project completion schedule were reported at the meeting.
The board moved next to the regional wastewater presentation after the vote.
