Following nominations from each commissioner, the board voted to appoint Monique Taylor, a Waldo city commissioner, as the MTPO non‑Gainesville municipal representative. The motion to appoint Taylor passed on a voice vote after board discussion and staff committed to implement process recommendations to request municipal nominations in future cycles and to reflect the two‑year term described in the MTPO bylaws and interlocal agreement.
The board also appointed Michelle Beans as the Alachua County Housing Authority alternate member after unanimous nomination by the commissioners. Commissioners noted that several highly qualified candidates had applied and asked staff to retain applications on file for a year so they can be considered for future openings.
Other routine actions approved by voice votes included recognitions and proclamations presented during the meeting: National Poetry Month, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and Fair Housing Month (and a county‑sponsored Fair Housing Resources Fair scheduled for April 26). The board approved the agenda earlier in the session and found extenuating circumstances to allow Commissioner Cornell to participate remotely for the meeting.
