Commissioner Anderson asked staff to prepare preliminary designs and cost estimates for a proposed senior community center at the county’s South Annex site and announced he would contribute $500,000 from his recreation-fee account toward the project.
Anderson told the board he would like staff to evaluate two possible South-End sites and return with engineering recommendations at a future South-End meeting. He said County staff and engineers should prepare both site options for the board to review and recommended bringing a presentation to a South meeting to solicit local input.
Commissioner Anderson moved to allocate $500,000 from his recreation fees to the project; the motion was seconded and the board approved the allocation with an affirmative vote.
County staff confirmed they will prepare preliminary designs and cost estimates for both sites, consult the county engineer and return to the board with a recommendation.
