Finance director reports February budget comparison: revenues lag, expenses below projections

At the April 15 meeting of the Muskegon County Ways and Means Committee, Finance Director Angela Gocheski presented the February 2025 budget comparison report and said the county is roughly five months — about 42% — into the fiscal year.
Gocheski said revenues are “slightly under” projections because tax settlement numbers remain incomplete and will be available in a few months. She reported that expense categories overall are running under budget at about 37%, though some supply accounts are slightly high and will be monitored during the budget revision process. “This is the report as of the February, which puts us 5 months into the fiscal year. It's about 42%. So we are coming in as expend as expected in most categories. You'll notice that the revenues are slightly under. That is due to, settlement still going on for taxes,” she told the committee.
The committee received the report and had no public comment. Gocheski indicated the finance office will continue monitoring supply expenditures and will bring adjustments forward during the revision process if needed.
