Ways and Means committee approves $33.37 million in accounts payable for mid-February to mid-March

The Muskegon County Ways and Means Committee on April 15 approved payment of accounts payable totaling $33,365,783.31 covering the period Feb. 15 through March 14, 2025, along with P-card and EFT payments covering Feb. 1–28, 2025.
County accounting staff highlighted several large payments tied to ongoing capital work, including disbursements for a Southeast regional project (described in the meeting as the Southeast Regional Force Name project) that will produce continued large payments in coming months. County Clerk/finance staff also noted a cluster of vendors connected to the county’s residential energy-efficiency program run by Mike Bough; those vendors appeared among larger payments because the program waits for consumer instructions and payments before issuing vendor payments.
Ms. Gaszewski told the committee, “So you'll notice a lot of these are are the, the usual suspects. Right? They're the same same vendors that you see from month to month.” She pointed out the energy-efficiency vendors and said some payments had backlogged into this period.
The committee approved the accounts payable by voice vote; the motion was moved by Commissioner Sears and supported by Commissioner Hayes Camp.
