The Select Board voted March 24 to approve the 2025 Concord Independent Battery compliance package and accepted a $689 donation to fund a larger, permanent town flag.
Battery representatives described annual activities covered by the compliance package, noted a scheduled borescope inspection of the cannon next year, and listed commemorative and ceremonial events including a tribute at the Old Manse and other dates. The Battery said it will coordinate with the Fire Department for safety and with town engineering for the new flagpole installation.
The Battery’s captain and secretary explained the flag will be larger than the existing town flag and that the Battery has delivered the flag and provided a check to town staff. The group said they plan to present the flag to the town at 11:30 a.m. on April 12 following a test firing earlier in the day.
