The Select Board on March 17 voted to establish a Land Use Working Group charged with evaluating the town’s municipal facility needs, aligning municipal land‑use priorities, and integrating work with the Minuteman‑Concord‑Ingham (MCI) advisory process. The board approved a draft charge that defines the group’s role, membership and reporting expectations.
The group will include nine members: two Select Board designees, representatives from planning and the MCI advisory board, one member of the Recreation Commission, one member from the Disabilities Commission, one member from the Historical Commission, one member from the Council on Aging, one at‑large resident and one Select Board member as an appointed representative. The board directed staff to ask the chairs of town boards and committees to nominate representatives; the Select Board also asked the Town Moderator to consult with the Finance Committee about providing an ex‑officio finance liaison or observer.
Board members emphasized the working group should coordinate closely with the MCI advisory process, especially since state grant timing requires an accelerated MCI schedule through June. The board asked the group to provide early assessments of municipal constraints and opportunities—public safety, public works, and service‑delivery needs—to inform MCI scenario planning and any future zoning or disposition work.
Select Board members approved the charge by motion and asked staff to send nomination requests to relevant boards and committees promptly. The board will receive appointment recommendations once nominations are submitted.
