Council confirms Mackenzie Malloy as deputy parks and recreation director

The Cumberland Town Council on March 19 approved the mayor’s appointment of Mackenzie Malloy as deputy parks and recreation director by a 7–0 vote.
Mayor Geoffrey J. Mutter introduced the appointment under the town charter provision cited in the meeting packet and asked the council to act favorably. Mackenzie Malloy spoke to the council, saying she is finishing her bachelor of science at Johnson & Wales University and that she previously served as a parks and recreation commission member.
“It's been an incredible journey and something that has changed my life,” Malloy said, and told the council she is “so excited to get into the building and watch it come to life.”
Councilors moved and seconded the appointment; the motion carried unanimously. The council did not record any abstentions or conditions. The administration will proceed with onboarding and assignment of responsibilities within the Parks and Recreation Department.
