Members of the Clark County Urban County Policy Board discussed the timing and scope of public comment and reached an informal consensus to move public comment to the beginning of future meetings and to limit remarks to topics within the board’s purview.
Mayor Cole and Councilor Victoria Ferrer supported the change and asked that comments be germane to the board’s work. ‘‘If you’re gonna provide public comment...it would just have to be something that is kinda germane to what we are what we discuss here,’’ Mayor Matt Cole said. Chair Glenn Young and other members favored beginning‑of‑meeting public comment, with the caveat that comments be relevant to the board’s responsibilities and not unrelated civic issues.
Staff said they would present a slide at future meetings that clarifies allowable public comment topics and when the public comment period will occur (after introductions and before approval of prior minutes). The board did not adopt a formal motion; staff characterized the outcome as an informal approval and said a future formal motion could be scheduled if members want one.
Ending: Staff will place a public‑comment slide in future agendas and schedule the public comment period at the start of meetings; if the board wants a formal vote, staff said they could accommodate it at a future meeting.
