Princeton joins neighboring towns to fund Stony Brook watershed study; council awards $110,240 professional services contract

Princeton's mayor and council on March 10 authorized a professional-services agreement for a Stony Brook Watershed Management Plan, approving a Princeton share not to exceed $110,240 of a consultant budget of $249,300 to be shared with Pennington Borough and the townships of Hopewell and Lawrence.
Council approved the resolution to award the contract to 1 Water Consulting LLC (as listed in the agenda) for professional services related to the watershed plan. The Watershed Institute's policy director, Mike Pissarro, lauded the regional effort in testimony, saying the study will produce a better understanding of causes of flooding and potential regional solutions rather than having each community act alone.
Speakers noted the project began as a joint effort in 2022 with Princeton staff and the Watershed Institute and that shared technical work and intermunicipal coordination are central to the contract scope. Council approved the agreement by voice vote during the meeting.
