The Jacksonville Beach City Council voted to extend for one year its contract with the law firm Lewis, Longman & Walker, P.A., to provide primary and alternate special magistrate services for code enforcement, the city attorney said during the meeting.
City legal staff explained that Florida law authorizes municipalities to contract with special magistrates to adjudicate code enforcement cases. The city—urrently uses Lewis, Longman & Walker and the magistrate named in the contract is Brenna Durden. The city attorney said Durden agreed to continue under current terms and that the extension would not increase costs.
Council adopted Resolution No. 2190-2025 to extend the contract. The motion passed by roll call: Jansen yes; Sutton yes; Wagner yes; Wouters no; Golding yes; Horn yes; Mayor Hoffman yes.
