St. Clair County Commission honors Barnett Lawley for 11 years on Economic Development Council

The St. Clair County Commission on March 25 adopted a resolution honoring Barnett Lawley for 11 years of service on the St. Clair County Economic Development Council and presented him a resolution and photograph in a short ceremony.
Commission Chairman Stan Bateman read portions of the resolution, which credited Lawley with supporting the council’s mission “to create jobs, increase wealth, and improve the quality of life” for county residents. The resolution also cited Lawley’s advocacy for outdoor tourism and conservation, including work tied to the Canoe Creek nature preserve, and referenced an industrial investment announced in February 2019 described in the resolution as more than $350,000,000.
The commission moved to adopt the resolution and approved it by voice vote. Don Smith of the Economic Development Council joined commissioners and staff at the front of the meeting as Lawley received the framed resolution and photographs. Lawley told the commission that serving on the council had “really been a joy” and said, "I thoroughly enjoyed my 11 years. And good luck. Thank you very much." The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the public transcript; the motion carried by voice vote.
