Johnson County to post $13.02 minimum wage for July 1 under 2015 ordinance

Johnson County staff told the Board of Supervisors on April 2 that the county’s minimum wage will increase to $13.02 per hour effective July 1, 2025, under the indexing method established by a 2015 county ordinance.
Erin (County administration) told the board the 2015 ordinance requires the county to reference the Midwest Consumer Price Index for annual adjustments and said the Midwest CPI for the last year was 3 percent. “So the new wage moving forward is a 38¢ increase from last year coming up with $13.02,” Erin said.
The nut graf: Under the ordinance’s indexing mechanism, the wage change compiles each year’s CPI adjustment; staff said the change will be included on the formal meeting agenda the following day so the county can notify businesses and residents in the normal timeframe for an April notification before a July 1 effective date.
Erin apologized for a short delay in posting the calculation and said staff will circulate the update to communications for public notice.
