Cook County board welcomes new Mobile Crisis Response RN

The Cook County Public Health Human Services Board introduced Sarah, the board’s new Mobile Crisis Response registered nurse, at its April 15 meeting. Commissioner Dave Mills invited Sarah to speak and she described her clinical and community background.
“I'm an RN,” Sarah said, adding that she worked as a critical-care responder at North Memorial in the Cities and later worked internationally with Indigenous elders. She described recent work with mission-driven startups and with the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health, and said those experiences led her to focus on emotional and mental health in her career.
Sarah told the board she and her husband recently bought land on Old Shore Road; her husband is a green builder and she said she intends to integrate her clinical skills with community-based, regenerative approaches. “This role, I think, is a gift, to the community,” she said.
Commissioners welcomed Sarah, noted the role has evolved over time, and expressed appreciation for her experience. The board did not take formal action on the hire at the meeting; the remarks served as an introduction to the new staff member and as an opportunity for commissioners to ask questions and offer support.
