Cook County board approves Child Abuse Prevention Month proclamation, consent agenda and Prevention Coalition appointment

The Cook County Public Health Human Services Board unanimously approved three formal actions at its April 15 meeting: a proclamation declaring April 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month in Cook County; approval of the consent agenda, which included the resignations of Melissa LeQuire and Marissa Echol; and the appointment of Commissioner White as the county representative to the Prevention Coalition.
Dave Mills, Cook County Commissioner for District 3, read the proclamation: “We, the Cook County Public Health Human Services Board do hereby proclaim April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Cook County and call upon all citizens to recognize this month by dedicating ourselves to the task of improving the quality of life for children and families.”
Commissioner Sullivan moved to approve the proclamation; the motion received support from Commissioner Storey and passed unanimously. Commissioner Sullivan also moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Gamble seconded and the board approved it unanimously. Later in the meeting Commissioner Sullivan moved to appoint Commissioner White to the Prevention Coalition; the motion received support (identified in the record as “Rana”) and passed unanimously.
Board members offered brief remarks in support of the proclamation and thanked county staff and community partners for child welfare and prevention efforts.
