UCLA faculty parent says daycare teacher arrested for abuse; calls for better UC communication and support

Molly Fox, an anthropology professor at UCLA and a parent of a child enrolled in a UCLA early-childhood education center, told the University of California Investments Committee on March 14 that she and other faculty parents have experienced a year of poor communication and insufficient institutional support after a teacher’s arrest on abuse charges.
“My child's UCLA daycare teacher was arrested for [alleged] abuse of multiple kids in my child's classroom,” Fox said. She said UC and UCLA leadership “mishandles the scandal at all levels of management, including lying and withholding time sensitive information from us faculty parents,” and added that “the absence of any meaningful communication or support from UC and UCLA leadership has left us to navigate this crisis on our own.”
Fox urged the Regents to act to “heal the broken relationships” between the university and affected faculty parents. The committee recorded her comment during the public-comment period; no formal investigation update or administrative response was offered during the meeting.
