The Huntington Public Safety Committee voted to forward Resolution 2025-R-34 to the full City Council with a favorable recommendation after the police chief presented competing bids and requested authorization for a $29,893.17 contract to buy practice and duty ammunition.
The chief of the Huntington Police Department told the committee, “I am here to request city council's authorization for Mayor Farrell to contract with Keesler Police Supply Inc of Jeffersonville, Indiana for the purchase of both duty and practice ammunition in the amount of $29,893.17.” The chief said the purchasing division opened the project for bid on March 4, 2025 and received three bids.
The chief provided the three bids recorded in the bid opening: Keesler Police Supply Inc, Jeffersonville, Indiana — $29,893.17; The Gun Shop, Vincent Town, New Jersey — $35,007.32; and Blue Herring Tactical, Coatesville, South Carolina — $60,690.50. The chief said funds for the purchase will come from the city’s general fund budget.
After the presentation, committee member Mister Archer moved to forward the resolution to the full council with a favorable recommendation. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote; the chair announced the measure would be forwarded with a favorable recommendation. The chair also asked Rob to sponsor the item at the council level.
The committee noted that one regular member, Miss Layman, was absent from the meeting. The committee concluded its business and adjourned. The resolution will next appear on the full Huntington City Council agenda for final consideration and any contract award would require mayoral signature if the council approves the purchase.
