AARP urges support for caregiver tax credit bill in public comment to advisory council

"One of our priorities at AARP is a bill on a caregiver tax credit," Natalie said. "It would be a tax credit to support family caregivers, unpaid care caregivers that are spending a lot of money out of pocket, caring for their loved ones...the way we'd like to see the tax credit is it would cover things like medical equipment or, home modifications, transportation, lots of the things that people are spending out of pocket."
Natalie said the bill had passed out of the aging committee and was in the finance committee, and that the group had provided model language to fix current wording. She supplied a bill number during the meeting: "The bill number is 7,007." She cautioned that passage this year was unlikely and described the work as a multiyear effort; she also offered an action alert for contacting legislators.
