Provisional appraiser asks commission for short extension; members defer pending experience log review

Joseph Salvati, a provisional appraiser identified on the record as Joseph Salvati (RSP 2067), asked the Connecticut Appraisal Commission for a short extension of his six-year provisional window to complete remaining qualifying education and testing. Salvati said he has completed several courses but still needs about three more classes and requested "a minimum of 3 months" beyond his July expiration to finish continuing education and prepare for the licensing exam.

Salvati described personal and caregiving commitments, health-related issues involving his supervisor, and lower recent workload as reasons he needs more time. He told the commission he has completed an experience log and submitted it to staff; staff confirmed receipt but said the log did not make the cutoff for the current agenda and would be reviewed.

Commission members asked about the number of remaining courses and supervisory oversight. Saluti (sic) said he had "about 3 left" to complete; his supervisor, William Detullio, was not present but the applicant indicated Detullio would be available for a future meeting. Commissioners stressed they preferred to review the submitted experience log, sample reports, and the supervisor's input before granting an extension. Commissioner John suggested reviewing the log, selecting samples, and potentially revisiting the request at the next meeting; other commissioners agreed.

No formal extension motion was made at the April meeting; commissioners directed staff to review Salvati's experience log and to place the item on a subsequent agenda after sample selection and supervisor participation. The commission noted the June meeting will be in-person and discussed whether the supervisor could attend; Salvati said his supervisor expected to be available.

The commission thanked Salvati for attending and said they would take his request up again after the requested materials are reviewed.
