One participant said some staff resisted putting a work app on a personal device and asked for alternative arrangements, such as district‑issued devices or documented protocols for using different devices during drills and emergencies.
District staff said InformaCast Fusion can operate on laptops, phone systems and cell phones (whether personally owned or district‑issued) and that it would be cost‑prohibitive for the district to buy a separate device for every employee. The IBB’s revised draft therefore adds language that the safety communique will notify staff of technology changes, train them on the district‑adopted tools and describe reasonable options for staff who prefer not to use personal devices.
The IBB agreed to remove an item about public‑facing emergency communications from the classroom‑safety draft (because it belongs with other emergency‑public‑communications work) and approved moving the building‑level safety draft from straw to white paper. A member volunteered to clean up the document and upload a final clean copy to the white‑paper communique folder.
Next steps: staff will update the safety and security manual to reflect the move to InformaCast Fusion, produce training on the district‑adopted tools, and include updated language in the white‑paper communique and the negotiation communique circulated to members.
