Staff said the city issued a solicitation in December 2024 and received 12 responses; Chaben Concepts was selected under the city’s stated evaluation criteria.
Staff and Bennett (city presenter) told council the project amount is not to exceed $45,000. Bennett said the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Business Development Grant will fund $28,000 and the city’s economic development budget will cover the remaining $17,000. Bennett also noted that Chaben/Chavin Concepts previously performed the city’s initial economic development plan in 2018, making the firm a familiar choice for the update.
Council moved and seconded the item and voted to authorize the agreement. All council members present voted in favor and the motion carried. Staff will execute the contract and proceed with the strategic-plan update as funded by grant and city resources.
