SUN CITY — Consultants working for the Rec Centers of Sun City (RCSC) presented findings and next steps for the Mountain View Recreation Center renovation at a special RCSC Board meeting, and dozens of residents used the public‑comment period to press for more detail on the auditorium, court sports, dog‑club space and a construction timetable.
Triarch and partner Last Architects told the RCSC Board of Directors that their community outreach produced about 3,000 data points and a roughly 300‑page synopsis of responses. Jill Hamblin of Triarch opened the presentation by thanking residents for their input: "It has been a wonderful several month experience and it's good to see so many faces here tonight," she said. Brad Lang of Last Architects said the work combines outreach, prior studies and a facilities assessment to form "a strong foundation for the project." Eric Sterner of Last Architects summarized the outreach themes and guiding principles.
The consultants said they cross‑checked three information sources — community outreach responses, Sun City amenity usage data and a facility condition assessment — and distilled eight principles to guide the project, including preserving existing amenities, improving accessibility, prioritizing fiscal responsibility and increasing sustainability. The facility assessment, conducted through a construction partner, produced a facility condition index showing several site elements (notably the pool building, the main auditorium and some site work) in poor condition and others (mini golf, some courts) in better condition.
