Secretary Rickmeyer announced his resignation from the Recreation Centers of Sun City board of directors, effective close of business on March 27, 2025, and delivered a statement to members explaining his reasons.
In a prepared address to the board and members, Secretary Rickmeyer said he was not leaving because of conflicts with fellow directors but because ongoing “malicious personal attacks” and repeated rumors had affected his mental and physical health and family life. He said the board and management are dedicated and make sound decisions, and he thanked general manager Matthew D. Luzanski, senior leaders and committee volunteers by name for their service.
Rickmeyer urged quiet members who approve the board’s work to speak up, to attend committee and board meetings, and to volunteer. He also asked the long range planning committee to temper reliance on artificial intelligence for cost estimates in PIF reviews and recommended committees more fully account for experienced construction and design costs.
President Tom Foster and other directors thanked Rickmeyer for his service during the meeting. The board did not take immediate action to fill the vacancy during the session; standard procedures for filling resignations will apply.
