Apache Junction council adopts schedule for FY2025–26 budget work session and hearings

City staff presented required dates for the fiscal year 2025–26 budget process and the City Council approved a motion setting a work session and two special meetings for public hearings and adoption.
City Manager Bridal Powell presented the proposed dates to council and explained they are required by state law as part of the annual budget adoption process. Powell said a draft budget will be presented publicly on May 5.
A council member moved: "I move that a budget work session be held at 7PM on Monday, 05/05/2025 in the City Council Chambers and that a public hearing and adoption of the tenant tentative budget be held at a special city council meeting as required by state law at 7PM on Monday, 05/19/2025 in the City Council Chambers. And that a public hearing and adoption of the final budget be held at a special city council meeting as required by law at 7PM on Monday, 06/16/2025 in the City Council Chambers located at 300 East Superstition Boulevard be approved." The motion was seconded, put to roll call and passed.
Roll call votes were recorded as "Yes" from Councilmember Solar; Vice Mayor Robert Schroeder; Councilmember Nasser; Councilmember Cross; Councilmember Heck; Councilmember Johnson; and Mayor Chip Wilson. The minutes show the motion passed by unanimous vote.
The schedule sets public presentation of the proposed budget for May 5, 2025; a tentative budget public hearing and adoption on May 19, 2025; and final budget public hearing and adoption on June 16, 2025.
