Green Team update: members set document repository, plan outreach and April cleanup participation

At the March 25 meeting, the New Brunswick Environmental Commission discussed internal organization for the city’s Green Team, confirming a shared document repository and several upcoming community activities.
The commission said it will use a Google Drive folder aligned with its existing master tracking spreadsheet to collect documentation for Sustainable Jersey certification. “I was just gonna look at a Google Drive, honestly. I think that's the most kinda universal that most people know how to use,” one member said, and volunteers agreed to align the drive with the commission’s task-tracking form.
Why it matters: the commission is targeting certification this fiscal year and noted there are two remaining submission opportunities. “We are trying to…get the certification in this fiscal year, which means we have 2 more chances to…apply or to submit,” a commissioner said.
The group also reviewed outreach and volunteer activities. Commissioners confirmed the annual Mile Run cleanup will be Saturday, April 12 (start about 9:30 a.m.; Hamilton and Woodbridge location) and said the commission will join Franklin Environmental Commission, the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership and DPW staff for the event. “It's amazing what gets hauled out of there,” a member said.
Members provided brief updates on other items: the pollinator garden has no new developments and volunteers are being organized; signage work for the garden is pending follow-up with a contractor named Sal. The commission agreed to defer its priority-setting discussion to the April meeting (Earth Day), so more members can participate.
Ending: Members said they will circulate the shared drive link and assignments, compile materials for Sustainable Jersey certification, and proceed with outreach for the April cleanup.
