Procurement staff described the bid process as routine. Committee motions to accept the bids were made primarily by Mr. Harding and seconded in committee; no public objections were recorded during committee consideration.
Several committee members asked whether local purchasing could be increased for fresh fruits and vegetables; staff responded that the advance procurement schedule applies to processed canned and frozen goods, but opportunities to source locally are more applicable to fresh produce contracts later in the process.
