District to receive workers' compensation rebate from SCSBA trust; SC Teachers survey data available to districts

Janet Graham, representing the South Carolina School Boards Association, told the board the district will receive a rebate of $319,005.42 from the South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust related to workers' compensation participation. "Because we are a part of work comp, we will be getting $319,005.42...from the insurance trust," Graham said.
Graham said the district is not a member of the trust's property-and-casualty pool and therefore will not receive a rebate from that program. She described the rebate as an infrequent distribution by the trust and said larger districts received larger rebates.
Graham also summarized a presentation from the state education department's SC Teachers program, which collects anonymous teacher-survey data to inform retention and effectiveness efforts. She said the survey data are available to districts at no cost and can help leaders interpret teacher retention and job-satisfaction trends. "When they get this data, they can supply that data to our district at no cost," Graham said, adding the district will need to analyze results locally.
