Representative Trace Dimel (District 2) introduced the amendment, saying the Senate raised concerns that the bill as written might inadvertently exclude electric vehicles. "As electric vehicles or UTVs become more and more common, we don't want to exclude them," Dimel told the committee, adding that the amendment strikes the exclusionary language to ensure the bill does not bar such vehicles.
There was no public testimony for or against the amendment during the committee hearing. Representative Steinle closed debate and moved the committee to a vote. Committee members adopted the amendment by voice vote and advanced the amended bill. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
