Lake Havasu City Council raises municipal court enhancement fee to $20

Lake Havasu City Council on April 8 adopted an ordinance to increase the municipal court enhancement fee from $10 to $20.
The ordinance, introduced as ordinance number 25-13-58, passed on a 6-0 vote after a public hearing in which no members of the public spoke on the item. Judge Cali, who presented the matter, told the council the change is driven by recent legislative shifts and is intended to keep funds in Lake Havasu City for local programs including youth court.
“...we are asking that the court enhancement fee be amended to indicate $20 instead of 10,” Judge Cali said during the hearing. Council member Jim Dolan moved to adopt the ordinance and Council member Nancy Campbell seconded the motion. The council voted in favor, with Mayor Kel Sheehy calling the vote and the clerk recording the tally.
The change increases the amount assessed under the city’s municipal court administrative fee schedule and will be reflected in the city code section discussed at the hearing. No amendments to the ordinance were recorded during deliberations.
City officials said the additional fee revenue will remain with local court-administered programs; the motion language and roll-call vote were recorded in the meeting minutes. The ordinance takes effect according to the city’s standard ordinance adoption timeline unless otherwise stated in the ordinance text.
