Planning Board elects Leah Berman Williams chair and Mr. Cardente vice chair for 2025

The Fairbanks North Star Borough Planning Board elected Ms. Leah Berman Williams as chair and Mr. Cardente as vice chair for 2025 during its Jan. 15 meeting.
Nominations were made from the dais; Ms. Williams accepted the nomination and said she will perform the duties of chair, including agenda setting and representing the board when needed. Mr. Cardente was nominated and seconded and accepted the vice‑chair role. The board recorded that the nominations were unopposed and the officers were confirmed for a one‑year term.
Board members discussed the chair’s duties during the agenda item, which include calling meetings to order, determining quorum, maintaining decorum and representing the board in external matters. Staff confirmed no additional committee representation was expected in the coming year.
The board did not take a separate roll‑call vote because neither position was contested and both nominations were confirmed during the nominations period; the chair and vice chair will serve until the next annual election.
