Gila County celebrates full community college accreditation; finance brings on procurement lead

GILA COUNTY, Ariz. — Gila County Manager Menlove announced Tuesday that the Gila County Community College District has been awarded accreditation and will transition from provisional status tied to Eastern Arizona College to a standalone community college district effective July 1.
Menlove thanked the Board of Supervisors for prior financial support and called the accreditation a milestone that followed several years of work. He noted the county’s prior budget contributions and congratulated the college district and staff; celebratory events were said to be planned in coming weeks.
In county finance news, the board heard an introduction of Olivia Todd, who will serve as the county’s procurement lead. Menlove and Finance staff said Todd will work with a consultant to update procurement policy, modernize procurement procedures, and implement contract‑management software intended to provide greater transparency and centralized tracking of department contracts and procurements.
Supervisors praised staff and emphasized the need to continue funding and supporting the college and to provide early review of updated procurement policies. Finance staff said policy and procedure drafts will be brought forward for board consideration when ready.
