Keith County commissioners approve contracts, travel and claims; board acts on HR vendor and sculpture installation

The Keith County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved a series of motions covering claims payment, vendor contracts, travel and administrative reports.
The board approved payment of claims with one vendor removed pending clarification of a $200 reactivation or dispute fee tied to a fuel card issued by Wex. County staff described the situation as a billing dispute from the transition among office personnel and recommended removing the charge until the company clarifies the $200 fee; the board agreed and approved the remainder of the claims.
Several administrative approvals followed. The board authorized the chair to sign the county weed-control report after a motion and second; the board also approved a travel request for Dave Kling to attend a North Central PET Region meeting in North Platte on April 17. Both votes passed by unanimous roll call.
On vendor contracts, the board authorized the chair to sign a human-resources outsourcing agreement with Zelle pending county-attorney approval and with an effective date timed to align with a payroll pay cycle; commissioners discussed starting the contract mid‑month so billing would match county payroll. The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved an agreement permitting installation of a sculpture on the courthouse pad; commissioners were told the installation is scheduled and the contractor (Sandhills Architectural precast concrete) expects to complete installation by April 30 subject to weather and other conditions. The motion to authorize the chair to sign the installation agreement passed on a unanimous roll call.
Other routine matters: the chair was authorized to sign the annual county weed report, and a collection report and other administrative records were circulated. The board continued an item about an auditor engagement letter; the auditor had not yet submitted a final engagement letter because she was awaiting contact with the prior auditor.
Roll calls recorded at multiple points in the meeting show unanimous recorded support for the listed motions. The board did not adopt ordinances or resolutions during the session; actions were approvals, authorizations and administrative motions.
