Council President Todd Thomas said the decision "makes a lot of sense to abandon this portion of Gamble Avenue for parking reasons, traffic reasons and in order to accommodate parking over there which is congested at best." The council noted that a public hearing had been held earlier and that no individuals or groups opposed the vacation.
City staff and the clerk will file the ordinance and update the municipal major street plan records to reflect the vacation.
