The General Services Public Works committee on March 24 recommended the council declare various pieces of used signal equipment surplus and authorize the donation of those items to the City of Lewiston, Idaho.
Todd of the Streets Department described the inventory as roughly 20 years old and largely incompatible with current systems the city installs. “We don’t have a use for it and I’m happy to let them haul it off,” Todd said, explaining that the city of Lewiston asked whether the items could be transferred rather than paying disposal costs.
Todd listed items expected to be donated, including up to five signal cabinets, LED inserts, signal heads and pedestrian push buttons. He said much of the inventory is already at the street shop and can be hauled off by the Lewiston crew. A committee member moved to recommend the council declare the items surplus and authorize the donation; the motion was seconded and approved.
Committee members asked for a slide show of photos to show what is being donated; staff said photos are available and the items are already being moved from storage in the street shop.
